"Health Department Seeks Volunteers for Bioterrorism Drill"

The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) will be conducting a bioterrorism drill on Wednesday, March 29 at Marian Central Catholic High School, 1001 McHenry Avenue, in Woodstock, during the school’s spring break.  Similar to the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) drill it carried out in June of 2005, the purpose is to test the medication dispensing operation of its emergency response plan.

Hundreds of volunteers are needed to ensure plans and protocols are in place for MCDH to provide mass vaccinations during a public health emergency.  Volunteers will be asked to play the role of victim (following a written script) as they go through the clinic process to receive simulated medication.  This exercise is funded through a grant by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  To register or receive additional information, please call 815-334-0222 or email at kaeisel@co.mchenry.il.us
